The place and meaning of an international treaty in the mechanism of international legal regulation

The paper examines the issue of international treaties as sources of international law in the mechanism and system of international legal regulation. A meaning increase in the number of legal regulators of international relations requires theoretical and methodological substantiation of the directions of development of international practice of states and other subjects of international law. The topics and issues of international treaties, in particular, treaties of a military-political nature and treaties on economic cooperation, are extremely important for the Ukraine. The issues of this research subject require the use of a comprehensive approach. Forming an independent branch of international law, the law of international treaties has been codified since 1969 (the adoption of the Vienna Convention on the Law of International Treaties). Aspects of the problematics of the application of law in jurisprudence are closely related to issues of legal process. At the same time, international legal process can be considered as a complex legal category. The principle pacta sunt servanda (treaties must be fulfilled) is a generally recognized rule of international law. It is concluded that the importance of international treaties in the mechanism of international legal regulation is quite large. As the main source of international law, international treaties regulate the most important types and areas of international cooperation in all spheres of international relations. Performing a regulatory function, multilateral and bilateral international treaties at the universal and regional international levels ensure cooperation between states and other subjects of international law. Given the individual gaps and problematic issues in international legal regulation, its mechanism (system) requires optimization and improvement, which can be achieved by increasing the efficiency of the international treaty system between subjects of international law.
