Improving the representation and experiences of women in policing is not solely a gender equity issue; a growing body of research highlights the unique value of women officers in improving public safety outcomes. The 30x30 Initiative provides a practical, data-informed roadmap for advancing women in policing, with a particular focus on evidence-informed strategies for improving the recruitment and retention of women officers, and ensuring their unique value is understood and unique needs are met. Many of these organizational changes like strategic recruitment strategies, improved data collection, and expanded support for parents and caregivers can meaningfully improve department operations and positively impact all officers – not just women – often without significant cost.
