The article presents an overview of the XII All-Russian Annual Meeting of Legal Theoreticians held by the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation (ILCL) jointly with the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation on March 5–6, 2025. The event was dedicated to the traditions and innovations of the systematization of legislation and was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding jurist and statesman Ivan Samoshchenko, who for a long time worked as director of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Soviet Legislation (the former name of the ILCL), and later as First Deputy Minister of Justice of the USSR, participated in the preparation of the text of the USSR Constitution of 1977, became the ideologist of the last official systematization of Soviet legislation. The review presents the greetings and main ideas of the participants of the plenary session — wellknown jurists and statesmen. The ideas expressed by the speakers and participants of the discussion in the framework of thematic breakout sessions on approaches to systematization in the context of modern challenges, the importance of digital technologies in the systematization of legislation, and the contribution of I. S. Samoshchenko and the Institute’s scientists introduced the theory and practice of systematization, analyzed the historical and legal experience of systematization of legislation, proposed a solution to the main problems of systematization of constitutional, judicial, private law, social and labor legislation.
