Abstract

Abstract Economically and æthetically the value of the forest is enhanced by the presence of mammals and birds. Our wild life is worth over one billion dollars to the country. Such a valuable resource should be conserved. The author cites what is needed to manage it wisely—research by an adequate force of trained biologists, refuges managed by competent protectors, a well worked out game management plan, a continuity of state game policies and their administration by interested non-political commissioners; coördination of game organizations; and forest and brush fire prevention.Intelligent game management is hampered by limited scientific information and paucity of research funds.
