Abstract The public regulation of privately owned forests is a live question. The fact that a Section of the Society has had a committee to study the basis for, and the probable effects of, public regulation on private forests is indicative of professional virility. All foresters directly and indirectly interested in public regulation, which means every member of the Society, will find this report of the New England Section of great interest.
