Abstract During the last few years a considerable amount of forest stand-improvement work has been carried out in northern New Jersey by the C.C.C. and other emergency organizations. While a fairly accurate estimate of the volume of wood removed in these operations was available, no information was at hand as to the amount and quality of the reproduction following them. As many of the stands were more or less uneven aged, this point was considered of particular interest in view of the possible continuation of emergency work.
