The article presents the stages of forming the concept of sustainable development in Russia, taking into account changing external and internal factors. A comparative analysis of existing domestic methods for assessing sustainable development is conducted using the example of regions in the Russian Federation. The main advantages of the national ECG assessment standard are highlighted. One of the important advantages is the opportunity to receive government support for regions and companies that demonstrate their commitment to the national concept of sustainable development. The purpose of this work is to conduct a comparative analysis of Russian rating agencies’ ESG ratings for regions.
