Abstract Indications are that near-maximum periodic cubic volume growth and yield may be attained by thinning lightly and frequently from below to leave medium densities ranging from 55 to 65 percent of normal basal area per acre. Such practices should also result in increased yields of sawtimber-sized material and reduce the investment in growing stock.
