The employees in Ajingi Local Government are performing diligently, while others are not performing well due to inadequate training needs assessment, irrelevant training programmes, bias in selection of employee to training, insufficient training evaluation and low motivational effect does not only hamper training of employees objectives but also constitute a serious factor in reducing employee’s and local government performance respectively.. This research was designed to assess the ‘Effect of Training and Development on Employees’ Performance in Ajingi Local Government Area of Kano State. Sample size of 248, was obtained from Ajingi LGAs using Krejcie and Morgan's 1970 table of sample size determination as the focused respondents of the study out of a population of 680. The study adopted survey research design and obtained its data from primary and secondary sources. The instrument of the primary data collection utilized was Questionnaire. The Questionnaires were administered to 248 respondents. Respondents were selected using simple random sampling techniques. Multiple Regression was used in testing the hypotheses. Findings of the study showed that training programmes, selection criteria, and training evaluation has a positive and significant effect on employee’s performance in Ajingi. While motivational effect is insignificant Therefore, based on these findings, it was recommended that the management of the Ajingi local government should raise motivational effect by providing incentive both financial and non-financial so as to boost their productivity and gain employees performance.
