The article is devoted to the study of the role and importance of innovation management in ensuring the competitiveness of enterprises under modern conditions of globalization, digital transformation, and increasing turbulence of the market environment. The paper analyses key theoretical approaches to innovation management, including the concept of open innovation, which involves the use of external ideas and partnerships; the theory of disruptive innovation, which explains the mechanisms of radical changes in the market; McKinsey’s Three Horizons model, which allows balancing between short-, medium-, and long-term priorities; as well as the concept of innovation ecosystems, which view innovation as the result of network interactions among different actors. Particular attention in the article is given to the methodological foundations of researching innovation activities. A systematic review of scientific literature, a meta-analysis of works spanning several decades, statistical data from international innovation indices, as well as case studies of leading companies have been used. This approach ensures a multi-level analysis that covers both the global and the national context of innovation development. Separate sections of the article are devoted to the analysis of mechanisms for forming competitive advantages through innovation management, the comparison of innovation activity across different countries, and the study of sectoral specificities in the manufacturing, financial, and high-tech spheres. Modern models and tools of innovation process management are also considered. The paper outlines key barriers and challenges faced by enterprises. Attention is also paid to the prospects of innovation management development in the context of digitalization, particularly through the use of artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain technologies, IoT, and virtual reality.
