Due to the diversity of professional backgrounds in life care planning and because this specialized practice continues to grow and develop, it is vital that a coordinated effort with standardized approaches be promoted. Education of emerging and experienced practicing professionals is a key aspect of fostering the advancement of the field. While process and standards of practice for life care planning have been established and published, consensus and unity in this diverse field is an evolving process. Through life care planning Summits, life care planners have the opportunity to examine relevant issues, contribute to the resolution of these issues, and be involved in the evolution of the specialty practice, (Johnson, 2012; Johnson and Gamez, 2015; Johnson and Gamez, 2017).
