The Christian theological tradition has long struggled to develop a comprehensive framework for understanding the gradations of demonic influence on human persons, with most approaches relying on binary conceptualizations (possessed vs. not possessed) that fail to capture the complex spiritual realities encountered in pastoral ministry. The purpose of this biblical-theological research was to validate the seven-level framework of the Spectrum of Possession by Evil (SPE) model (Pokorny, 2026) through comprehensive exegetical analysis of Scripture and systematic examination of historical-theological development across major Christian traditions. Employing a qualitative research design integrating grammatical-historical exegesis, historical-theological analysis, and comparative denominational synthesis, this study examined 47 primary biblical passages across both Testaments, analyzed 38 historical-theological sources spanning two millennia of Christian thought from patristic through modern eras, and engaged official teachings from Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Protestant, and Pentecostal-Charismatic traditions. Original Hebrew and Greek terminology was analyzed using critical editions (BHS, NA28) with four standard academic translations. Findings demonstrated substantial biblical and theological warrant for understanding demonic influence as existing along a graduated continuum rather than in binary categories. Biblical terminology reveals semantic differentiation supporting gradation concepts, while narratives from Jesus' temptation through intermediate cases to the Gerasene demoniac present a clear spectrum of manifestations. Historical-theological analysis revealed remarkable continuity across eras in recognizing graduated forms of demonic influence. Cross-denominational analysis identified significant convergence regarding foundational affirmations while noting divergence primarily in terminology and believer vulnerability to intermediate levels. This research establishes scriptural warrant for the SPE model's seven-level framework, provides biblical anchors for each spectrum level, and demonstrates ecumenical viability of graduated demonic influence concepts, offering pastors, counselors, and deliverance ministers a biblically grounded tool for spiritual assessment. Keywords: demonic influence gradations, Spectrum of Possession by Evil, biblical-theological validation, demonology, spiritual warfare, deliverance ministry, ecumenical theology
