This paper offers a conceptual reinterpretation of the cosmological constant Λ within modern theoretical physics. Rather than treating Λ as a local vacuum energy density, it argues that Λ is more naturally understood as a global consistency or capacity parameter that fixes the large-scale geometric and informational structure of spacetime. The argument is grounded in holographic reasoning, where Λ sets curvature scale and degrees of freedom rather than functioning as a dynamical source. In Anti–de Sitter space this role is explicit through AdS/CFT, while in de Sitter spacetime horizon thermodynamics provides heuristic motivation. The paper is empirically conservative: it introduces no new dynamics, modifies no cosmological models, and makes no new observational predictions. Instead, it reframes the cosmological constant problem as a question about the global consistency principles that constrain how vacuum contributions gravitate.
