This study delves into the impact of music education on enhancing students’ interpersonal abilities. By thoroughly examining a wide range of scholarly sources, the research highlights that music education serves a dual purpose: it cultivates artistic proficiency while also playing a pivotal role in fostering students’ social development. The findings underscore the multifaceted benefits of integrating music into educational curricula, particularly in nurturing well-rounded individuals. The research adopted a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, and selected 120 students from several primary and secondary schools in a certain city as the research objects, and collected data through questionnaires, in-depth interviews and classroom observation. The results of data analysis show that students who participate in music education show stronger ability in teamwork, communication, emotional management and so on. In addition, studies have found that music education helps to increase students’ self-confidence and empathy, and thus better adapt to the social environment. Based on the above findings, this paper puts forward some practical suggestions, such as strengthening the proportion of music education in the regular curriculum and enriching the forms of music teaching, in order to provide reference for promoting the all-round development of students. Finally, this paper points out the limitations of the study and the possible research directions in the future.
