The hermeneutics of religious symbols leads us to the discovery, and then to the silent contemplation, of the theophanic representations that the Imaginary receives as manifestations of an infinite Transcendence. Gnosis aims to abolish the bipolarities and dualisms that mark humanity and its history. Among all religions, Gnosticism is the most frequently used symbol through which man projects himself and his destiny onto the screen of a soteriological and eschatological time. Biblical symbolism initially presents itself because it serves a monotheistic faith that is already firm or needs strengthening. This very particular use of symbolic language allows the Bible, despite its incomparable richness of expression, to remain intelligible throughout generations. The message of the symbol consists in its epiphanic character of figurative presence, yet very real, of the transcendent.
