ABSTRACT Three years of study, research and development have been devoted toward the improvement of hydrophilic contact lenses originally developed in Czechoslovakia. Patients have been part of this program since September 1967. This study was undertaken to establish a fitting rationale and optimum physical and optical parameters. The fitting rationale and the results in terms of corneal health, visual performance, and patient acceptance of the ritual of use are discussed.
