Uganda has implemented various school-based HIV prevention programmes to improve adolescent sexual health knowledge and behaviors. A mixed methods approach combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews was employed to gather data from both teachers and students across four purposively selected rural primary schools. Students demonstrated an average knowledge score of 75% on HIV/AIDS prevention measures, revealing a significant gap in understanding compared to guidelines. While the programmes appear effective at increasing awareness, they need targeted interventions to enhance comprehension and promote safer sexual behaviors among adolescents. Schools should incorporate more interactive educational sessions and follow-up support groups for students who score below average on knowledge tests.
