Abstract: Labyrinth in a Dewdrop: Professional pressures invade the dreamspace, reducing figures to immobile, haunting presences. Rituals of visitation and return culminate with a dark, viscous substance that briefly possesses mannequin students, whose disappearance and reappearance become gestures of the interior world insisting on its own inscrutable reality. Unwritten Overture: An overture to longing, loss, and the creative alchemy that delivers the balm of ephemeral beauty. Objects are mnemonic instruments and doorways that insist on patience, ceremonial attention, and the relentless search for a clear space where tenderness can be entered and renewed. As We Were Saying (11/6/24): Written the morning after Donald Trump's second presidential win, this poem blends personal memory and political dread, wrestling with what it means to live on while futurity seems to evaporate.
