Urbanization in Nigerian cities has led to rapid growth of informal settlements, characterized by dense populations and limited access to social services. A qualitative research approach was employed with interviews and observations focusing on healthcare, education, and housing conditions in selected informal settlements. The analysis revealed a significant disparity in access to basic healthcare services among residents compared to formal urban areas. Urbanization exacerbates social welfare challenges in Nigerian informal settlements, particularly related to healthcare accessibility. Policymakers should prioritise the development of integrated healthcare systems tailored for these communities.
