Community health centers (CHCs) play a crucial role in providing healthcare services to underserved populations in Nigeria. A mixed-method approach combining quantitative data analysis and qualitative interviews was employed. The study utilised a difference-in-differences (DID) model to estimate the impact of CHCs on healthcare access and cost savings. CHC systems were found to reduce outpatient costs by an average of 15% compared to non-CHC areas, with statistically significant differences observed in urban settings but not in rural locations. While CHCs offer potential cost savings, the effectiveness varies geographically and requires further localized interventions for optimal performance. Investment strategies should prioritise resource allocation based on geographic needs to maximise cost-effectiveness.
