The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), one of the leading African universities in Tanzania, plays a pivotal role in knowledge production and dissemination within the field of African Studies. The study employs a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis of academic outputs and institutional policy documents. A key finding is that UDSM produces approximately 30% of the total research output in African Studies, significantly influencing national and regional discourse on education and development. The study highlights the importance of UDSM as a knowledge hub, contributing to both local and international scholarly conversations through its robust research programmes and institutional policies. Future studies could benefit from integrating more longitudinal data analysis to track changes in knowledge production over time.
