(1) the archaeological monitoring of both demolition and construction groundworks to ensure that an appropriate record is made of any archaeological features and deposits that may be directly impacted and that meet the research criteria of the project. (2) the monitoring of the demolition of the existing dwelling on site, and the compilation of a written, drawn and photographic record of any significant architectural or structural features exposed in the course of the works, which together conform to a Level 2 record, as defined in Understanding Historic Buildings: a guide to good recording practice (Historic England 2016). The standing building was demonstrated to be an unexceptional mid-19th century dwelling of low heritage significance. A building record has been made. The evaluation of the site revealed a late medieval boundary ditch bisecting the plot on a N-S axis. Subsequent monitoring of development groundworks revealed no further evidence suggesting that domestic occupation in the vicinity has remained focused on the street frontage since at least the medieval period.
