The watching brief comprised the observation by a competent archaeologist of all intrusive groundworks associated with the proposed development. These works comprised the machine excavation of foundation trenches and post pad footings. In November 2023, Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological watching brief during groundworks associated with the construction of a detached car port and workshop outbuilding with ancillary floorspace above at Long Close House, Long Close, Downton, Salisbury, Wiltshire. No features or deposits of archaeological interest were observed and no artefacts pre-dating the modern period werr recovered.
