After 2022, significant tensions associated with a shortage of workers formed in the Russian labor market. It arose as a result of a large-scale structural shift in the Russian economy and industry. Another factor was the demographic situation associated with a steady decline in the working-age population. The article considers the key conditions that will affect the Russian labor market in the medium and long term. It is shown that the most significant factor in labor productivity growth is technological modernization. Estimates of the potential for labor productivity growth in individual sectors of the economy are provided. It is shown that a high proportion of jobs with low skill requirements for employees creates both economic and social problems. The main principles of labor market forecasting are described, as well as the relationship between labor market regulation policy and other areas of economic policy.
