Civilized Animals: Power, Instinct, and the Illusion of Civilization

This philosophical paper introduces the concept of “civilized animals” to examine the paradox of modern human civilization. Despite technological advancement and complex institutions, human societies often remain driven by instinctive patterns of domination, competition, and rigid belief systems. The article argues that civilization frequently refines animal instincts through sophisticated social structures rather than transcending them through conscious awareness.
