Early Childhood Development (ECD) programmes in Rwanda have been implemented to address developmental challenges among young children. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with surveys was employed to gather data from parents, educators, and ECD programme managers. The analysis revealed a positive trend in literacy scores among children who participated in the ECD programmes compared to those not involved (mean difference of +10% in reading ability). ECD programmes significantly contribute to improving early learning outcomes, particularly in reading skills, which are critical for future academic success. Policymakers should prioritise continued investment and evaluation of ECD programmes to ensure they continue to support child development effectively.
