ABSTRACT The present manuscript represents a taxonomic revision of Hibiscus Sect. Lilibiscus in India. A detailed description, distribution, habitat, original photos, and an identification key for each Indian species are provided. Hibiscus clayi is here reported for the first time in India. The name Hibiscus fauriei (which is considered a heterotypic synonym of H. schizopetalus ) was lectotypified on a specimen deposited at P (an isolectotype was found at BISH). The article will help to delimit the species in Sect. Lilibiscus and also to stabilize nomenclature status.
