The study examines community-led sanitation initiatives in rural Ethiopian communities to assess their impact on water quality standards. A comparative study was conducted over four years, involving multiple rural communities with varying levels of community-led sanitation efforts. Data collection included surveys, interviews, and water quality testing. Community-led initiatives led to a significant improvement in water quality standards by 20% compared to control areas without such interventions. Communities demonstrated strong commitment to improving their health outcomes through voluntary participation in sanitation programmes. Governments and NGOs should support community-driven efforts with resources and training to sustain improvements in water quality.
