The study examines the role of African universities in knowledge production and dissemination within Uganda's academic landscape. A comparative analysis will be conducted using quantitative data on publications, citations, and participation in international conferences. Qualitative interviews with university administrators and researchers will also inform the study. Ugandan universities have produced a notable number of research outputs across various disciplines but vary significantly in terms of citation rates and conference participation. While some Ugandan universities are leaders in certain fields, overall dissemination efforts could be improved to better serve national development goals. Enhanced collaboration between universities and industry partners is recommended to increase knowledge uptake and impact.
