This protocol describes the solvent-free synthesis of Quadruple-Function Modified Hemp Lignin (QFMHL) via reactive extrusion (REX), a continuous process intensification technology. The method achieves simultaneous maleinization and amination of organosolv hemp lignin through high-shear mechanical activation, eliminating the need for external solvents and reducing processing time from 7-11 hours (batch) to under 30 minutes. The resulting QF-MHL functions as a bio-based vitrimer hardener with dynamic covalent network capabilities, enabling recyclable thermoset materials for the Organic Revolution of 2030. Target grafting efficiency exceeds 95% with optimized thermal profiling across 10 extruder zones.
