This study conducts a rigorous, text-centered comparative analysis of Fernando Pessoa (Portugal) and T.S. Eliot (UK/USA), two defining figures of 20th-century modernist poetry. Focusing exclusively on poetic aesthetics, linguistic expression, temporal-spatial consciousness, and existential introspection within their verse, it avoids all political, religious, ideological, and biographical controversies. Adopting "polyphony" as a subtle analytical lens—referring to the coexistence of multiple poetic voices and perceptual layers rather than musical theory—it explores how both poets responded to modern spiritual fragmentation through distinct yet resonant poetic strategies. By examining Pessoa’s heteronymic self-expression and Eliot’s impersonal structural synthesis, the research reveals convergences in their pursuit of poetic authenticity and divergences in their approaches to individual consciousness and cultural tradition. This work contributes to cross-cultural literary dialogue between Portuguese and English poetic traditions, offering a neutral, academically rigorous perspective free of sensitive content, suitable for institutional collection and cultural exchange.
