This paper attempts to address the issue of modern transformation processes in the educational environment of domestic higher education institutions. The authors identify the directions aimed at opening up new opportunities and making life easier for the younger generation in society, the country, and the state, as well as the challenges faced by students pursuing higher education in modern universities. The paper also identifies the main components of the higher education system, including education (learning) and upbringing, which play a crucial role in preparing individuals for life in society. Today, the education and upbringing of the student generation faces a number of modern challenges: whether to trust a teacher or artificial intelligence; how to use technology and computer games without losing the main competence of communication (with peers, teachers, artificial intelligence, etc.). How not to lose yourself in an environment of low reliability of information on the network, which is one of the central ones in the modern world, despite the fact that the Internet provides unprecedented access to knowledge, it is also often a source of misinformation and fake news. The directions of subsequent research are due to the need to conduct research on the quantitative and qualitative perception of students of modern transformation processes in the university environment. In the future, the results of the study will allow to make the most complete picture of overcoming the main challenges that the modern educational and upbringing environment of domestic universities meets by students and teachers.
