In the 21st-century education system, the integration of digital tools into teaching has transformed thetraditional role of educators. With the rise of online and blended learning, particularly after the COVID-19pandemic, digital pedagogical skills have emerged as a core competency required for effective teaching.This article explores the concept of digital pedagogy, outlining its key components such as digital literacy,content creation, e-assessment and technology-enabled engagement. Unlike conventional teaching skillsthat focus on face-to-face delivery and textbook instruction, digital pedagogical skills demandadaptability, creativity, and the ability to use technology to personalize and enhance student learning.The article provides a theoretical framework by discussing models like TPACK and SAMR, which helpeducators understand how to integrate technology meaningfully. It further analyzes the importance ofthese skills in promoting learner engagement, inclusivity, and personalized instruction while aligningwith global education standards, including India, National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and UNESCO’sdigital benchmarks. Despite their importance, several challenges hinder the development of these skills,such as infrastructure gaps, teacher resistance, the digital divide, and lack of professional development.The article presents practical strategies for capacity building, including teacher training, institutionalsupport, integration in teacher education, and the role of MOOCs and EdTech platforms. By highlightingsuccessful case studies and outlining future directions involving AI, AR/VR, and policy reforms, thepaper positions digital pedagogical competence as essential for the evolving educational landscape.Digital Pedagogy: The thoughtful and effective integration of digital technologies into teaching andlearning.
