This project presents a methodological proposal for documenting lexical innovation within the surfing subculture of the Limonese Creole (Mekatelyu) community in Costa Rica. Presented at the 6th International UCM Predoctoral Conference on English Linguistics (UPCEL 2026), this research explores the intersection of language contact, globalized sport subcultures, and creole dignification. It serves as the preliminary stage of a long-term documentation effort aiming to map the vitality of Limonese Creole in modern, specialized domains.
