Abstract : The sudden combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in the field of higher education has revolutionised the sphere of teaching, learning, and management of educational institutions. Although AI-based systems like learning analytics, automated evaluation, and generative AI tools provide a chance to take personalised learning and the institutional efficiency to the next level, they create a range of complex ethical issues that should be critically analysed. The present research is grounded on a philosophical-based inquiry, which is qualitative in nature and seeks to explore the ethics of AI in the Indian higher education. The paper looks at the key ethical challenges associated with the introduction of AI, including bias in the algorithm, privacy and surveillance of data, academic integrity, and a change in the relationship between teachers and students, through interdisciplinary perspectives of AI ethics, critical pedagogy, and philosophy of education. The study relies on conceptual analysis and thematic synthesis as the method of interpreting the ethical aspects of the AI-driven educational technologies based on the documentary analysis of scholarly literature and policy documents. The results suggest that the implementation of AI technologies can facilitate new ways of teaching and data-driven decision-making; however, it can also contribute to the aggravation of structural inequalities, the spread of educational surveillance, and the transformation of conventional principles of academic authorship. The paper also emphasises the need to build ethical governance structures, enhance data privacy protocols, instil AI literacy, and reexamine assessment procedures in line with the emergence of generating AI applications. Philosophically, the discussion underlines that the integration of AI in higher education should be in line with the human educational principles of fairness, autonomy, transparency and democratic participation. Within the framework of the policy efforts of the rapidly digitalizing higher education system in India and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the research is also a part of the developing discourse on responsible AI governance in education as it suggests a conceptual framework of ethically informed technological innovation. The research concludes that ethical responsibility and humanistic educational values must be considered in a balance with the technological progress of the adoption of AI in higher education. Keywords : Artificial Intelligence, AI Ethics, Algorithmic Bias, Data Privacy.
