This interview is part of the “Caste in Canada” oral history project. “Caste in Canada” comprises interviews with nineteen Canadians of Dalit background, documenting their histories, experiences, and understanding of the implications of caste in Canada. The subject of this interview, Paramjit Kainth, was born in India and has lived in Vancouver, BC, since 1992. He belongs to what he calls a “so-called low caste,” which he describes as “man-made in India.” This is, he says, an “ugly scar on the human face in India.” This interview is divided into two segments and includes two promotional videos. In the interview, Param Kainth speaks about the Dr. Ambedkar International Society, its philosophical inspiration from Buddha, its efforts in India, and his involvement in it.
