The archaeological watching brief involved supervision of general ground reduction and excavation of strip footings. Where necessary, surfaces were hand cleaned for examination and recording and deposits observed were recorded on standard pro-forma recording sheets. A digital colour photographic record was maintained, some of which is reproduced in the report Appendix 1, plates 1 - 4. All work was carried out according to the agreed Written Schemes of Investigation and in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) Standard for Archaeological Monitoring and Recording (2023). The fieldwork was undertaken by Michael Blake and James Roberts. The watching brief revealed that the site has been subject to truncation down to the natural geology, likely when the Gunton Avenue estate was constructed in the mid-1990s. Layer (103) is likely the result of building waste from this development. No archaeological features were present within the site, and the results are presented with a high confidence rating.
