Climate changes have caused problems for Assam, a state of Northeast India and has negatively impacted the agricultural production, as well as the social economic development of the people, and their cultural heritage. This study is focused on the cultural response of Assamese communities to environmental impacts of climate change, and diverse ways of telling the story of climate change in the region. A review of data from articles on the internet, and authors from other studies is used to illustrate the dynamic interaction between native wisdom, and new methods of adapting to climate change. The paper analyzes climate change in Assam and the cultural responses of the local people to mitigate the negative impacts, and integration of traditional systems with new climate change adaptation frameworks. The paper also emphasizes the importance of integrating traditional knowledge into modern adaptation framework, importance of engagement of youths in climate actions, and the impacts of climate change on the socio-economic and cultural aspects of Assamese society. The paper also highlights potential avenues for innovative policies and approaches to deal with pressing issues while acknowledging the challenges associated with successfully utilizing and significance of documenting and preserving traditional knowledge.
