The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between professional ethics and teacher effectiveness of secondary school teachers. Teachers of government and private schools are evaluated by their superiors as well as the effectiveness of their teachers. The study found a significant positive relationship between professional ethics and teacher effectiveness when private school teachers rated themselves or their principals. The study also showed that gender does not affect professional ethics and teacher effectiveness. However, the group with high professional ethics shows higher teaching effectiveness than the group with low professional ethics. A descriptive survey method was used for the research purpose. A sample of 500 male and female secondary school teachers working in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh was selected using random sampling method.
