Four post-holes were excavated under the supervision of a CAT archaeologist. All work was carried out in accordance with the Brief and WSI. Archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out at The Castle Inn, 92 High Street, Colchester, Essex during groundworks for a new gated entrance. The development site is on the edge of the Colchester Castle and Temple of Claudius Scheduled Monument and is in the centre of significant activity in Roman Colchester. Despite lying in an archaeologically sensitive area, no archaeological features were encountered with only a few residual finds.
