The evaluation involved the mechanical excavation under archaeological supervision of two trial trenches connected to form a "T" shape as specified in the WSI. The trenches were laid out vis DGPS survey. Where necessary, surfaces were hand cleaned for examination and recording and deposits observed were recorded on standard pro-forma recording sheets. Full context descriptions are provided in the trench summary which is presented in Appendix 1 of the report. A digital colour photographic record was also maintained, some of which is reproduced in the report as plates 1 - 6 Appendix 2. All work was carried out according to the agreed Written Scheme of Investigation (Roberts 2026) and in accordance with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) standards and guidance for archaeological evaluations by Michael Blake and James Roberts. The evaluation identified evidence for 20th century structures within the site in the form of wall footings and floor surfaces and possible backyard activity in the form of pits. No other features were present. The relic buried soil indicated that should archaeological features exist they would not have been truncated by previous building activity. These conclusions are presented with a high confidence rating in the results.
