Pre-Construct Archaeology (PCA) Limited was commissioned to undertake an Historic England Level 3 historic building recording of the Grade II listed aisled Tithe Barn and associated former farm buildings at Rectory Farm, Thriplow, Cambridgeshire. The historic building recording was supplemented by dendro-chronological dating of the listed tithe barn. The historic building recording supplemented by dendrochronological dating of the Grade II listed, aisled tithe barn, concluded that the arcade posts and arcade plate selected for sampling were felled between 1350-1363. The tithe barn had since been much altered, with replacement of some of its tie-beams along with sections of arcade plate and the rebuilding of the end frames and two aisles in the 17th century. The latter were re-built/underpinned in the mid/late 19th century, alongside the addition of new purpose-built farm buildings and an open stockyard, as part of the farms diversification into dairy and cattle. Latterly the tithe barn became dis-used and its roof, above tie beam level, was replaced in the 1960s.
