The Higgs eld is proposed to be a relic of the Big Bang annihilation: frozen bulk non-uniformity that persists as the universe expands and cools. At temperatures T > TEW ∼100 GeV, the bulk was in thermal equilibrium and the non-uniformity was dynamical the Higgs was massless and the electroweak symmetry was unbroken. Below TEW, one conguration of the non-uniformity was frozen in, spontaneously selecting a vacuum expectation value v (t) ∝H (t) (7/2). The Yukawa couplings (quark and lepton masses) are proportional to the ratio of each particle's focal deceleration amplitude to the Higgs vev explaining the mass hierarchy without ne-tuning. The hierarchy problem (why mHiggs ≪MPl) is resolved because the Higgs mass is set by the QCD scale ΛQCD, not the Planck scale: the Higgs eld is not a fundamental scalar but a collective mode of the QCD vacuum frozen at the electroweak transition.
