A historic building survey was undertaken prior to construction of a new dwelling house and conversion of an existing steading at Auchengownie, west of Glenfarg, Perth & Kinross. The survey was carried out as part of a condition of planning permission for the development (planning ref: 23/01017/FLL). The steading sits to the west of the main ruined farmhouse complex which lies outwith the planning application area to the east. Map evidence indicates buildings were present at Auchengownie during the mid-1700s. Although no upstanding remains currently visible could be confidently assigned to this period it is possible elements of a pre-19th century building exist in parts of the northern gable. The remainder represents part of a 19th and 20th century farm, substantially altered in the late 20th century.
