A rapid archaeological desk based assessment was carried out on the site of a Council Depot on land at Queen Street, Tring Hertfordshire. The work was undertaken by Archaeology Wales on behalf of Dacorum Borough Council prior to the proposed submission of a planning application for residential development. Cartographic evidence indicates that the assessment area was composed of open fields until the late nineteenth century. From 1899 it was occupied by a yard/depot. Associated structures were removed from along the rear and northern boundaries prior to 1986, and there is evidence suggesting possible buildings along Queen Street at some stage during the same period. Otherwise the area has remained unchanged until the present day.
