Abstract In her opening remarks held at the 20th European Society of International Law’s Annual Conference, Heike Krieger creates a scenario of how international law and its scholarly community will have developed by the year 2035. She focuses on possible consequences resulting from the rise of right-wing populist movements and geopolitical shifts. Based on a longue durée perspective, her remarks argue in favour of a reconstruction of the existing international legal order.
