ABSTRACT This study presents a comprehensive dataset on seed morphology, germination performance, and fruit type characteristics for 131 tree and shrub species commonly used in direct seeding in the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes in Brazil. Species were selected based on the availability of material for physical analyses and the possibility of obtaining data from at least three independent seed batches. Standardized laboratory protocols were applied and complemented by information from the scientific literature. The resulting dataset reveals substantial intra‐ and interspecific variability in key functional traits. By consolidating dispersed information and providing systematically generated trait data for a large and ecologically relevant set of Neotropical species, this work fills a critical knowledge gap. The dataset provides a baseline for future applications in ecology, silviculture, conservation planning, and large‐scale ecological restoration in biodiversity hotspots.
