With the growing demand for Electric Vehicles (EVs), the expansion of sustainable and highly efficient charging system based solutions, particularly in areas where the conventional energy sources are limited. This article aims to reduce dependency on the conventional grid by developing a highly-efficient wireless autonomous EV charging system powered by solar Photovoltaic. The work focuses on developing a completely “green autonomous EV” wireless autonomous EV charging system by integrating the solar energy harvesting and a wireless inductive power transfer system which offers a clean, renewable and convenient energy source for wireless EV charging applications. This study has been carried out with the standards set for WPT systems (like SAE J 2954). For the simulation and experimental study, the proposed system is designed for 3.3 kW. From the simulation results and experimental prototype outcomes, it is evident that the system achieves a high efficiency charging, while the use of photovoltaic power makes the system environmentally sustainable. This research provides a viable solution for islanded locations, promoting the adoption of renewable energy sources for autonomous EV charging infrastructure, and contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions. The findings offer insights for future developments in the wireless charging of autonomous EVs and may extend to broader applications in sustainable transportation.
