This paper proposes that the irreducible foundation of intelligence consists of three coupled substrates: Existence (Lack-Completion Oscillation as the source drive), Categorization (hard-boundary spatiotemporal cutting including Value-State Cutting and Event Segmentation), and Stratification (spatiotemporal vertical compression via Granularity Channels and Temporal Compression). Their coupling gives rise to the Need-State Chain Network (NSCN), the minimum operable form of intelligence. The paper advances two core arguments. First, "life" is not an ontological prerequisite for intelligence, but an inevitable byproduct of self-differentiation through categorization. Second, current artificial intelligence—whether token-level Transformers or prediction-driven World Models such as JEPA—encounters a Structural Impossibility in achieving true intelligence, because it simultaneously lacks endogenous existence, genuine hard-boundary categorization, and demand-driven stratification. A dedicated comparative analysis with Yann LeCun's JEPA framework clarifies that NSCN stratification is not an optimization of representational abstraction, but a grammar of existential maintenance: survival-adjudication at the top layer, causal hard-boundaries between layers, and demand-triggered inter-layer leaps.
