Transitional Justice in Post Peace Agreement Societies: Development of a New Framework for Assessment

This paper proposes a comprehensive framework for assessing transitional justice mechanisms in societies emerging from conflict and implementing peace agreements. The framework examines five key dimensions: legal accountability, truth recovery, reparations, institutional reform, and reconciliation processes. By analysing case studies from South Africa, Colombia, Northern Ireland, and Rwanda, the study identifies best practices and common challenges in implementing transitional justice after peace agreements. The proposed assessment framework incorporates both quantitative and qualitative indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of transitional justice approaches in achieving sustainable peace, democratic governance, and social cohesion.
